Working at Heights
This one-day course teaches you how to stay safe while working at heights. It follows the Ministry of Labour’s Working at Heights Program Standard and is approved by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD).
You will learn:
- What makes working at heights risky
- How to spot and avoid fall hazards using signs, barriers, and other warning methods
- How to safely use ladders and similar equipment
- Different systems for working safely at heights (like scaffolds and lifts)
- Types of personal fall protection systems and how to use them
- Hands-on practice with harnesses and safety gear
What to Bring:
If you have your own harness, feel free to bring it with you. However, it is not required—the instructor will provide a variety of harnesses and safety equipment for everyone to use during the hands-on portion of the course.
After the Course:
Once you successfully complete the training, you will receive a Proof of Training wallet card issued by the Ontario Ministry of Labour. For construction workers, this certification is valid for three years from the date of completion.
Who Should Take This Course:
Anyone who works at heights or supervises people who do—this includes workers, supervisors, health and safety reps, and committee members.
Important:
Please bring valid photo ID. Without it, you won’t be able to complete the course.
